Tracking Points and Miles

One popular site to help track points and miles is AwardWallet: https://awardwallet.com/.

AwardWallet tracks by program and expiration date, and the Plus version also tracks other awards (such as free night certificates, companion travel vouchers, and hotel upgrades). You have to manually enter your program numbers and passwords (they have SSL encryption). You can also track points and miles for others. AwardWallet will also alert you to changes in the balances in your accounts, and it sends reminders by email to check in for your flights. It updates your account balances each week, alerts you of miles or points that are close to the expiration dates, and sends reminders about upcoming travel and changes to your itineraries.

Two versions of AwardWallet are available: the free version and the AwardWallet Plus version.  AwardWallet Plus currently costs $30 a year for new members. First time user AwardWallet upgrade code: free-mpvznv

There are other programs out there, including Tripit Pro: https://www.tripit.com/ (which also has a free version and a paid $49 per year version, with a free 30-day trial of the paid version available) and Points.com: https://www.points.com/.

Personally, my AwardWallet Plus account is grandfathered at the $10 annual rate, but I have primarily been using a simple spreadsheet that lists the program, number of miles, any applicable expiration dates, and any other additional awards (and expiration date, if applicable). It gets manually updated whenever I notice a difference in balance or book an award flight or room. In a quest to streamline and simplify, I may try to use the AwardWallet Plus account more.
